'Rock On' is Directed by Abhishek Kapoor. The director has come out with an excellent backdrop for a story and though the
title might come across as a perfect musical journey it is more on the lines of life and relations. And the presentation is mind
blowing.
A true revelation, the film is about Aditya(Farhan), Joe Mascarenhas (Arjun Rampal), Rob(Luke Kenny) and K.D.(Purab
Kohli) a group of friends who are brought together with the passion for music and together they create the rock band 'Magik'.
However, as fate would have it they fail to take off and life becomes a burden to them. Years pass by and then fate comes
beckoning that brings all of them together. They have a challenge ahead of them and all they possess is endless talent and
each other for strength and comfort. Do they have it in them to bring back the 'Magik' back on track? How does life accept
them at this journey? The path from being an underdog to the top of the table also involves a lot of introspection and self
discovery, how does it change them? And what happens hereafter is to be seen on the screen.
Presentation:
The narrative has been slow but steady. Full marks go to the technical side with some breathtaking camerawork and a
haunting music that keeps you humming the tunes for the next few days. The editing has been crisp, the script has been
tight, the dialogues were simple and life like. Screenplay has been par excellence and the costumes and the locations
simply set the mood. The icing on the cake was some superb performances, while Farhan showed maturity in his debut,
Arjun Rampal was at his career best performance, the surprise winner is Luke who comes across with strong character
performance while Purab provides the much needed entertainment. Even the girls Prachi, Shahana and Koel have done
good in their roles and Koel is one girl who has some extra sex appeal that needs to be checked out. The others did their bit
with élan and contributed well to the film.
