Story:
As the movie begins, an ill man dressed in ragged clothes is brought to Bombay Hospital on a stretcher in an unconscious state. The dying man is none other than Harilal Gandhi, son of Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi (Darshan Jariwala). The movie then goes to flash back -

Mohandas Karamchand Gandhi, along with his wife Kasturba (Shefali Shah), runs a printing press in his settlement in South Africa. His grown-up son Harilal Gandhi (Akshaye Khanna) marries Gulab (Bhumika Chawla) in Rajkot. Conflicts arises between Harilal and his father as Harilal marries Gulab without taking Gandhi's permission. Gandhi has very high ideals and expects his family to live up to those values too. But Harilal refuses it. He maintains a strained relationship with his father. Harilal gets converted to Islam as a rebellion and again reconverted to Hinduism as a penance and finally gets addicted to drink which ends his life.

Performance:
Darshan Jariwala does well in the character of Mahatma Gandhi. Akshaye Khanna excels in the character of Harilal. His emotions of love, anger, guilt are touching. Bhumika Chawla has performed well as Harilal's wife. Her sequences with Akshaye Khanna are good. Shefali Shah is superb. She does her best in emotional sequences. Dialogues are interesting. Background score is fine. Costumes suit the theme well. The film has high production values. Screenplay is catchy. The other technical aspects are alright.

Verdict: Good
