'Dhoom Dadakka' is directed by Shashi Ranjan. The director who is known to come up with
whacky comedies did come out with a good subject but then he lost out on the presentation and
the narration aspects. The film which was meant to be a complete comedy entertainer.
A regular comedy, the movie begins at a dark location in Bangkok where a meeting of all the
noted dons of Asia takes place. First among them is Mungi Lal (Anupam Kher) Fursat Lala
(Gulshan Grover) and the topic of discussion is the dip in the name and fame of the
underworld hold. Meanwhile, there is an issue of a valid piece of land that comes into the
discussion and all of them present decide that it is very essential to have a successor to
their kingdom for a better future. Fursat Lala insists that since Mungi has no own seed of
his he has to be given the reins of super Don, Mungi turns it down and declares that he does
have a successor and he will be getting that person in front of all in a month's time. From
there on, Mungi along with his friend Jignesh (Satish Shah) set off to locate his sister
Angoor (Bhavana Balsavar) who had given birth to a boy Kamal.
The duo gets in touch with Mumbai and takes the services of Johnny English (Satish Kaushik) a
private detective who promises to help them. Johnny finally gets hold of an NRI (Samir
Dattani) and takes off to Bangkok to present him before Mungi as Kamal. Things take a turn
when Johnny finds that there is already someone (Shaad Randhawa) who claims to be Kamal and
to add more confusion, arrives pretty girl Shivani (Aarti) who says that she is Kamal. In all
this comes Jiya (Shama) who happens to be the lover girl of the NRI Kamal. Mungi tells
everyone to stay with him until he decides who the real Kamal is. What happens from there
hereafter is to be seen on the screen.
Performances:
'Dhoom Dadakka' belongs to Anupam Kher, Shaad Randhawa, Sameer Dattani. The script had many
loose ends and the screenplay was not tight enough to keep things going. Even the music was
not of much use except one raunchy number of Aarti. The camera failed to capture the scenic
beauties of the foreign locations and the editing was completely loose. The newcomers Shaad
and Sameer have come out with decent performances while Aarti and Shama provided enough
glamour with not much meat in their roles. Anupam Kher and Satish Shah came out with a
hilarious performance while Satish Kaushik had the natural aura of a comedian. Gulshan
Grover, Jackie Shroff and the rest of the cast could not deliver much as their role was
limited.
