'Black And White' is directed and produced by Subhash Ghai. He is well known for his
colourful musical movies. With 'Black And White' the director attempts for a different genre
of film and he succeeds in it. He has selected few but experienced stars for the film. All
the stars have worked hard and given us a message oriented movie. The director deserves a
praise for his work.
Rajan Mathur (Anil Kapoor) is a Professor who teaches Urdu in Dr Zakir Hussain College. He
resides in Chandni Chowk with his activist wife Roma (Shefali Chhaya). A new man Numair
(Anurag Sinha) enters their life introducing himself as a victim of communal riots in
Gujarat. Actually, he has been given a work of playing a suicide bomber during the function
of Independence Day at Red Fort. During his stay with Professor Rajan, Numair meets warm and
loving people of Chandni Chowk. He also finds his love of interest (Aditi Sharma) there. All
these diverts his aim and he is caught in an emotional dilemma whether to go ahead with his
mission. Although he is a deep rooted fundamentalist, he sees this area as colourful and
loving. Nevertheless he moves on with his mission. But something disturbs his mind. And to
know what happens on August 15th at Red Fort, watch the film.
Performances: Anil Kapoor excels in his performance as a professor who believes an
unknown man. Shefali Chhaya is superb as an activist. New comer Anurag Sinha does a good
job. He is sure to go places. Aditi Sharma is alright. Milind Gunaji is okay. The film has
many memorable sequences. Music by Sukhvinder Singh is pleasant. Screenplay by Sachin
Bhowmik, Subhash Ghai and Akash Khurana is good. Background music by Ranjith Barot is of
first rate. Dialogues by Subhash Ghai are impressive. Story of the film is the main
highlight. The other technical aspects are alright.
